ENIAC

ENIAC
Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer. On February 14, 1946 (Valentine's Day) ENIAC, the world's first general-purpose electronic computer, was activated for the first time. It weighed 30 tons, occupied 1,800 square feet, had over 19,000 vacuum tubes, 70,000 resisters, 10,000 capacitors, 6,000 toggle switches and performed up to 5,000 calculations per second. It had the computing power of a modern electronic wristwatch. The vacuum tubes burned out so fast that two men did nothing but changed tubes all day. ENIAC's main function was to calculate the trajectories of projectiles and bombs.
